I guess this is the most hardcore of sumo stomps there can be.

I never knew that such large men can be so flexible.

Laws of nature must be wrong.

This was ridiculous. The whole crowd thought so as well.

"Once the actual bouts begin, the two rikishi spend several minutes before their match lifting their legs high in the air and stomping them down, a practice said to scare away any demons." [link]

I bet this guy wanted to make sure those demons were really scared.

what i like most is the general japanese touch.

sumo, the language signs, the blooms in the back
(cherry?) and even the curtain (which makes up
for a good framing) with the pompon.

the great tonal range, his expression and the nice
dof which is choosen well (since its still possible to
see some details) makes this a great photograph
for me.
Oh wow, I really didn't know they were that flexible. Great timing catching one of the wrestlers with his leg so vertical.

Great overall composition including the detail of the text to the left, the curtain drapes and the crowd. There's just so much to look at. Great job!

Whaow, great picture!
Shot from another angle is must be...no...forget about it. :-D
great framing! great DOF. the composition is very well chosen! i love how the parts on the top and left give the picture some kind of natural frame. the best thing about the picture is the moment you captured! very well done! its hard to believe that this sumo guys can move like that!

Maybe it's a center of gravity thing?
